The Kerala Veterinary Science Congress (KVSC) is a coveted annual scientific meet organized by Indian Veterinary Association, Kerala, since 2009. The objective of this two-day event, during the month of November every year, is to revitalize the Research & Development sector of Veterinary Sciences, Animal Husbandry and Wildlife studies and to identify solutions for the emerging challenges in health care management, production & welfare of livestock, wildlife and the adaptive refinement of One Health initiatives in Public health. The Kerala Veterinary Science Congress is organized by Indian Veterinary Association Kerala in association with Animal Husbandry Department, Kerala. The 2017 episode of Kerala veterinary Science Congress (KVSC-2017) will also be an international edition staging an effective platform for interaction among academicians, researchers, practicing veterinarians, wildlife experts and policy makers from all across the globe

SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS
The 9th Kerala Veterinary Science Congress is scheduled to have five technical sessions based on relevant themes of veterinary profession in the current scenario and a special session for farmers. Each session will be lead by thematic presentations by eminent speakers and scholars in the relevant field.
Session I ANIMAL HEALTH SCIENCES
Session will deal with disciplines of Clinical Medicine, Surgery, Animal Reproduction, Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine, Public Health and Diagnostics
Session II BASIC VETERINARY & ALLIED SCIENCES
Session will discuss on Veterinary Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Parasitology, Biotechnology and Pharmacology.
Session III ANIMAL PRODUCTION & MANAGEMENT
Session will give emphasis to areas of Animal Breeding & Genetics, Nutrition & Feed Technology, Avian & Livestock Production Management, Livestock Products Technology, Animal Husbandry Extension, Entrepreneurship, Livestock Economics & Marketing, Animal Welfare Animal Welfare and Environment Management.
Session IV WILDLIFE
Session covers areas related to Captive and Exotic Animals & Birds.
Session V VETERINARY SCIENCE IN PRACTICE
Session will focus on field experiences and technical papers by registered field veterinary practitioners.
Special Session FARMERS’ SESSION
Session incorporating innovations in Production, Breeding and Conservation in Animal Husbandry sector by progressive farmers and conservationists.
REGISTRATION AND ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
Scientific/Research/Clinical papers are invited for oral/ poster presentations in each of the five technical sessions of the Congress. The research papers must be based on original work of authors, which has not been published / presented in the same form elsewhere in print or electronic media. The abstracts not exceeding 250 words, editable MS word format, Times New Roman, font size 12pt, 1.5 line spacing are to be submitted online only either in the registration portal available at the Congress website www.ivakvsc.org or emailed to vetsciencecongress@gmail.com along with the scanned copy of filled registration form upon payment of registration fee mentioned below and details like delegate category (type), bank transaction number and date, amount remitted and the registration number allotted in online registration, along with a scanned copy of the certificate concerned. Acceptance of the abstracts will be intimated through e-mail only. The authors of the abstracts accepted for oral/poster presentation will have to submit their full papers for including in the Congress Compendium. Number of papers permitted per person is limited to three. An author can make only one oral presentation in the science congress, provided the abstract is recommended by the review committee, even if he/she might be author in more than one paper. Registration is mandatory for participation/presentation of papers. Authors who have registered in the congress shall only be entitled for oral/poster presentation. The Proceedings of the Science Congress and presentations by farmers will be uploaded in the website. Guidelines for preparation of abstracts and full papers are available at the website. The delegates registering for the Science Congress are entitled to get a conference kit and complementary food on the conference days. Postgraduate student delegates shall also submit a bonafide student certificate from the Head of the Department or Major Advisor. The last date for online registration and abstract submission is 15thAugust 2017.

AWARDS AND HONORS
The first and second best oral and poster presentations in each of five technical sessions of the Congress will be awarded a citation and memento as a token of encouragement towards quality research and practice in veterinary field.
VENUE AND DATE
The 9thKerala Veterinary Science Congress will be held at Flora Airport Hotel, Nedumbassery, Ernakulam District, Kerala on 11thand 12th November, 2017.
Ernakulam refers to the eastern, mainland portion of the city of Kochi in central Kerala. The city is the most urban part of Kochi and has lent its name to the Ernakulam district. Ernakulam , the financial capital of Kerala, has derived its name from a very famous temple of Lord Shiva called the Ernakulathappan Temple. It is also said that the word Ernakulam was drawn from Malayalam words 'Ere naal Kulam', which mean 'Pond for a long time'. Cochin is the previous anglicized name of Kochi city. At present Ernakulam is the district which contain Kochi/Cochin city. Native people frequently use both names “Ernakulam and Kochi" for the city. The district has a moderate climate, and mostly falls within the Malabar Coast moist forests eco region, while the highlands are part of the South Western Ghats moist deciduous forests eco region. It is an important commercial and residential area of the state of Kerala. The Kerala High Court is situated in Ernakulam. Cochin international airport is located in northern part of the district at Nedumbassery. The newly inducted kochi metro rail facility offers easy & quick commutation from Aluva to Palarivattom, the heartland of kochi metropolitan city. Proximity to an international airport, well connected road, railway & waterways, add to the geographical comfort in reaching the city. Ernakulam occupies an important place among the districts of Kerala in the field of literacy and educational standards.
The most visited tourist spots in Ernakulam District are Marine Drive, Bolghatty Palace, Willington Island, Jewish Synagogue, Hill Palace Museum, Kodanad Elephant Kraal, Wonderla Amusement Park, Lulu Shopping Mall, Malayatoor Church, Thattekad Bird Sanctuary, Bhoothatankettu Dam, etc. The Winter Season in Kochi begins from November and lasts till the month of February. The ambient temperature hovers between 26 to 32°C, wherein ordinary light clothing will suffice. This season is considered to be the best time to visit Kochi.

Nedumbassery is a part of the Kochi Metropolitan Area, situated around 25 km northeast of the city of Kochi and 53 km from Thrissur. Safe and reliable 24 hour online taxi services are available in addition to well connected public transport system. Angamaly and Aluva are the nearest railway station around 6 km and 14 km respectively.
