An invisible trap

The incident which happened to a Veterinary surgeon  in particular and to the Veterinary fraternity in general, is absolutely unfortunate. An unpleasant incident, in which  a veterinarians’ flexibility  to claim a reasonable amount as consulting charge, for a private service rendered to a consumer at his place of convenience  resulting in his arrest is something barbaric and ruthless  and an insult to an  individuals integrity. The issue ……we feel  was  handled in an inappropriate way with ample sign of absolute lack of awareness  coupled   with a  sting of prejudice.
Moreover the entire problem can be stated as a consequence of neglecting an invisible and unresolved issues of private practice procedures of the Veterinarians.  Dr.Vincent unfortunately happened to be an innocent victim of a misconceived incident taking a draconian face,  thus creating an environment of betrayal of faith and trust.
Private practice rendered by the veterinarians under pressing circumstances has always been an issue  which  lacked clarity and direction. Incidentally the partially baked instructions was always like a time- bomb, ticking mercilessly since years together – and now  it has ultimately  exploded ,engulfing  its first victim. its a  misfortunate that we  couldn’t realize the danger of an overlooked  impending condition, Obviously a Veterinarian never assumed that an act of providing an  additional service and  a favour will be used  as a weapon to malign and tarnish the image of a Veterinarians’ …. no doubt,  this incident as a  turning point,  might not go  well with  veterinarians and  may perhaps   deter and prevent the vets  to  visit owners  cowsheds  and  probably   concentrate on   “treatment  in Travis  concept” which will create inconvenience to faraway farmers with  an emergency case….   Hope it won't happen.
The issue of privilege of private practice needs refinement to infuse clarity and congruence with the dynamisms of changing time . It requires a sympathetic and open assessment without  hurting the dignity  and decorum  of the Veterinary  profession as well as the veterinarians. Veterinarians always supported  the cause of the dairy farmers and are overwhelmingly popular among the farming community and are much more trusted.
The profile of the veterinary doctors in  field is shifting more  towards lady Veterinarians and any new interpretation and suggestion regarding farmers  house visit and private practice  should support the cause of  the lady veterinarians  their  convenience and comfort, .moreover in many emergency situation its the veterinarians, who arranges vehicle and purchase of medicines  so as to provide quick and timely service to the farmer and it involves some economical commitment. There should be a judicious mix of reasonability  and ethics blended with mutual acceptance to bring out a suitable solution to this neglected issue .
Last but not the least we fully sympathise with Dr Vincent who took the entire impact of this calamity. We stand behind him  till  he  gets justice and regains his   pride and prestige, misted by an act of betrayal.
