The Leadership Workshop for veterinarians of Kerala state was held on 23 & 24 April 2022 at KLDB, Mattupetty, Idukki & 28 & 29 May 2022 at KFRI, Peechi, Thrissur. Contrary to the conventional definition of Leadership, IVA leadership training attempts to instill inner values of leadership by building assertiveness, developing critical thinking skills and understanding self through explorative and interactive approaches.
The two-day workshop was preceded by a welcome dinner and an orientation evening attended by 35 veterinarians. The training held on 23 & 24 April 2022 at KLDB, Mattupetty, Idukki was inaugurated by Dr. M. R. Saseendranath, Vice Chancellor, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in the presence of Managing Director, Kerala Livestock Development Board and the second training on 28 & 29 May 2022 at KFRI, Peechi, Thrissur was presided by President IVA kerala and Guest of Honour, Dr. T V Sajeev, Director, KFRI. Each training attended by total of 70 Nos (35 each) of Veterinarians from various parts of the State. Yoga & Class on Stress Management, IVA My Passion, Role of a Vet as an Extentionist, Etiquettes and Manners of a vet, (Interactive session – Participants & CEC IVA, Kerala, Cultural programmes etc were the important sessions of two days programme.
The stress management session entitled Let’s Make a Difference aims to motivate vets to commit to a goal of improving themselves and situations around them. The emphasis was on ensuring that the goals are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound). Various daily commitments from reading more books, keeping journals, practicing meditation and yoga to recycling wastes, avoiding junk food and improving language and communication skills, were shared by the participants during the session.
